Tasks include:

  • Cleaning kennels
  • Cleaning the kennel areas
  • Washing up bowls and feeding equipment
  • Daily Laundry
  • Making enrichment and toys for the dogs
  • Tidy and cleaning day rooms and storage rooms
  • Walking and training the dogs
  • Sitting in with the dogs and keeping them company.

Own transport is beneficial due to our location – we are currently not in a position to offer transport.

Training and support will be provided for this role as appropriate.

Available shifts

  • Monday – 08.30-12
  • Tuesday – 08.30-12 and 13.00-16.30
  • Wednesday – 08.30-12 and 13.00-16.30
  • Thursday – 08.30-12.00 and 13.00-16.30
  • Friday – 13.00-16.30
  • Saturday – 08.30-12.00 and 13.00-16.30
  • Sunday – 08.30-12.00

What attributes are we looking for?

  • Good physical fitness to carry out the duties associated with this role e.g. scrubbing kennels and walking large dogs that can be strong on lead.
  • Must be confident walking large breeds.
  • Experience of owning and training dogs using positive reinforcement methods.
  • Strong interest in animal welfare, along with an understanding of animals within the rescue environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work towards handling and training of strong dogs or those with particular training needs.
  • Ability to take instruction and follow training plans, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive, enthusiastic and self-motivated,
  • Ability to work in a busy, sometimes emotive environment.
  • Happy to work alone or with the team.
  • Willingness to help in other animal care area (cattery).
