Grounds & Maintenance Volunteer
Oak Tree Farm needs enthusiastic volunteers to maintain our beautiful rescue site. Whether you have a green thumb, DIY skills, or simply enjoy being active outdoors, your support ensures a safe and welcoming environment for our animals and visitors.
Roles are varied and flexible, including tending to flower beds and woodland, repairing fencing, painting, or assisting with site upkeep. Our teams are friendly and supportive; while existing skills are a plus, we provide full training and equipment for all tasks.
Tasks include:
- General gardening such as weeding, planting, mowing, strimming, and pruning.
- Maintaining wooden structures including sanding and repairing benches, gates, fences, and sheds.
- Basic DIY and site upkeep such as painting, decorating, changing bulbs, and fixing shelves.
- Cleaning and grounds maintenance using power washers, clearing gutters, and sweeping paths.
- Assisting with the maintenance and washing of charity vans.
Available shifts
We typically look for a commitment of one shift per week (approximately 2–3 hours). Shifts are flexible and can be arranged to suit your schedule between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Please indicate your availability on your application form.
What attributes are we looking for?
- A strong interest in animal welfare and a self-motivated, positive attitude.
- Enjoyment of working outside in all weather conditions.
- Reasonable physical fitness for manual handling, lifting, and active grounds work.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a small, friendly team.
- Own transport is essential due to our rural farm location.
